For those of you who know me, you are aware of my love for designer toys.  I just found out that Kidrobot recently released a t-shirt version of Kidrobot 18, Frank Kozik’s Kidmutant, for its spring line. While your 8″ Kidmutant toy sits indoors with the rest of your vinyl collection, you can now have a Kidmutant to show off when you’re out and about!

Here’s a look at the toy (in case you haven’t seen it) and the new t-shirt:

Kidmutant, Labbit, Kidrobot, Frank Kozik

Kidmutant, Kidrobot, Frank KozikThis is my favorite Kidrobot mascot to date, and I’m still bummed that I didn’t have the funds to pick up my very own Kidmutant when it released at Kidrobot. If you are a huge fan of Frank Kozik or simply love this mutant KR mascot, this new t-shirt definitely deserves some space in your closet or dresser!

You can purchase the Kidmutant t-shirt at Kidrobot for $40.

Huck Gee, skullheadNot too long ago, I received a special package from Huck Gee, an amazing designer and customizer in the art toy world. Huck has worked a great deal with Kidrobot and is one of my favorite toy designers of all time, so I was very excited to see all these goodies. I had won one of his online contests and was only expecting one t-shirt, but Huck surprised me with not one, not even two, but five awesome t-shirts from his shop. Not only were there t-shirts, but there were also some Skullhead decals and Art Hustle trading cards. Needless to say, my jaw dropped and I had to take a moment to calm down and pull myself together.

So in this edition of This Just In!, I’m going to be reviewing two of the t-shirts from this package. If you have heard of Huck Gee, then you probably know that he’s quite famous for his Skullhead character. On this character’s forehead is the kanji for “death.” What a charming guy, no? If you know me personally, then you’ll know that I also have a big spot in my heart for designer toys. Although I had seen tons of works by eBoy for companies like Yahoo! and Coca Cola, I hadn’t heard of the name eBoy until I immersed myself in the toy world. Thanks to Kidrobot, I learned all about eBoy’s figures called Peecol. And from then on, I learned that they created the pixel art that I have always loved so much. Long story short, I love eBoy’s artwork. The style is so unique and distinct, and I am never disappointed by a work of theirs.

Detail:

Yacht Race” by eBoy is the first release from Fartookind!. It is available for $36 and is limited to only 55 copies. If you’re a fan of eBoy, then you definitely don’t want to miss your chance to pick it up! Summer’s the time to stock up on graphic t-shirts, and “Yacht Race” couldn’t be a more fitting design for this season.
