Loving This Tee

The time has come for me to announce the big winner! I would like to thank everyone who participated in the Loving This Tee contest for a free “Panda” t-shirt from Rotten Thread! As I mentioned in the contest post, I did not select a random winner, but instead let someone else choose the winning pair of names. My friend had quite a difficult time narrowing the list down to 10 pairs of names, and it was even more difficult narrowing it down to just one.

So who’s the winner? Let’s first see the names that were assigned to these two pandas!

And there you have it. The pandas’ names are Jobin and Cityslicka! Congratulations to Cory for winning a “Panda” tee from Rotten Thread! I will be e-mailing you shortly about how to claim your free t-shirt.

For those who did not win this time, I have enjoyed reading all of your submissions and I thank you again for joining in on the panda-naming fun! You are all winners in my book. I hope to see all of you in the next Loving This Tee competition!

What’s not to love about pandas? They’re big, lazy, and oh, so cute! When I think pandas, I think of these creatures as big balls of fluff that don’t do much of anything, except for sleep and eat bamboo. Perhaps this is the exact image that Rotten Thread is trying to dispel with their “Panda” tee. This design has a tough-looking panda with a bandana around its neck. I’m not so sure that this animal would enjoy to being called “adorable” or “tubby,” and I definitely wouldn’t risk it! The men’s version is printed on green, while the women’s version is printed on pink. I don’t think that there’s a particular message behind these color choices, but I’d like to think that Rotten Thread is saying that the girl pandas can be just as tough as the boy pandas!

If you love these tees as much as I do, then you’re in luck because Rotten Thread is giving away a panda tee to one lucky reader! All that you have to do is follow the instructions below and you’ll be in the drawing for the panda tee of your choice. This contest is open to U.S. residents only.

The rules are simple. All that you have to do is leave a comment with names for the two pandas, one for the male and one for the female.

The commenter with the best names for the pair of pandas will win his or her very own Panda tee from Rotten Thread. This time, the winner will not be selected by random. Instead, I’m going to let a friend decide which names are the most creative. So, put on your thinking cap and name some pandas! You can submit as many names as you want, as long as they are in pairs. Please also make sure that your e-mail is somehow linked to your comment(s). The contest will end on Sunday, November 22 at 11:59pm Eastern Time. I will announce the winners next Monday, so be sure to check back to see if you’ve won! Good luck!

The Hipstery contest has come to a close, and I would like to thank everyone for participating and sharing their favorite surprise gifts! I loved reading all of the entries, and it sounds like you’ve all given and/or received some fantastic presents. As I said in the contest post, there are two prizes to be awarded today. So who won? Well first, let me tell you how I selected the winners. I decided to select the winners randomly again because let’s face it, how can you quantify other people’s surprise gifts in terms of awesomeness? Since I am not too enthralled by random number generators, I decided to write up all the contestants’ names on a sheet of paper. I then cut out similarly-sized slips of paper and rolled them all up into tiny paper balls. I placed all of these crumpled up pieces into my hand and shook them around for a good five minutes. Then it was judgment time. I closed my eyes and picked out two from the group, separating them from the rest.

I know, I know. You don’t care how I did it. You just want to know who won. Well, luckily I have nothing else to say about the methods of selecting the winners. So, without further ado, the winners are…*drumroll please*

Congratulations, Manz and Khiem! You two have each earned a mystery tee for giving a wedding anniversary gift to your sister and her husband, and for turning a bad family trip into a happy and memorable experience, respectively. I have sent your information over to Hipstery and they will contact you via e-mail to let you know how to claim your prizes. Once again, thank you to everyone that participated! If you didn’t win this time, there will be more opportunities in the future. I hope to see you in the next Loving This Tee contest!

There’s a new contest at Loving This Tee! This time, the folks at Hipstery were kind enough to offer two free tees to the readers of this blog. That means that two of you will walk away with a cool hand-picked mystery tee of your own! All you need to do answer the following question in the comments:

What was the greatest surprise gift you’ve ever received, or what was the best surprise gift you’ve given (based on the recipient’s reaction, of course)?

You can go back as far as you can remember, so any surprise present at any age works! This contest will end on Sunday, September 20, at 11:59pm Eastern Time, so make sure to get your comments in before then. Please also check that you’ve entered your email when you’re commenting so that I can contact you if you win. Good luck!

Also, if you haven’t seen what Hipstery is all about, make sure you check out their website! You can also find the interview that I did with Budge here.

Last Wednesday, Tilteed officially launched with two amazing tees by rawroutloud and a.mar.illo. Today, one lucky winner will walk away with these launch contest tees. With 13 entries, it wasn’t easy picking a winner, especially since there were so many convincing reasons for why each contestant should win. Because of this, I chose to employ a random number generator. Each contestant was given a number from 1-13 with a random sequence generator, and then I used a random number generator to pick the winning number.

So who is the lucky winner, you ask?

“Loving This Tee needs to give me Tilteed tees because whenever I enter contests like this, I never win, and it would be nice to win for once!! Plus I mean come on, with these tees I’ll be the coolest person on campus, right? Maybe they’ll help me break the awkward ice when I’m talking with people.”

Looks like the first half of your reason successfully persuaded the numerical gods to select your randomly assigned number, kallie. Congratulations on winning “Get A Job” and “Expansion” from Tilteed! Now you can be sure that you’ll head back to campus in style this fall.  I will be sending you an e-mail with more details shortly.

I would like to thank everyone for participating in the very first Loving This Tee contest! If you didn’t win this time, there will be other opportunities in the future! I will do my best to hold more contests as Loving This Tee grows.

If you like what you see at Tilteed, please be sure to check the site often and vote for your favorite designs. New winning tees go up for pre-order every 72 hours, and you can always use the code “LovingThisTee” to get free shipping!

Today’s the big day for Tilteed ! Tilteed has just officially launched with two wonderful designs. The first place prize of $3500 went to rawroutloud (Ray Masaki) for “Get A Job,” and the second place prize of $1500 went to a.mar.illo (Sven Palmowski) for “Expansion.” Both of these designs deserved it! They were definitely high up on my list. Congratulations! Continue to the end of the post for a special contest to celebrate this fantastic launch.

Printed on a turquoise American Apparel tee, “Get A Job” is a great autobiographical piece. According to Ray, “instead of looking for a job this summer, [he] spent a lot of my time doing random stuff and eating cup noodles.” Although I had a job this summer, I can definitely relate because I devoured many containers of cup noodles within the past few months. The color combination is stellar and I cannot wait to get my hands on this tee!

As for “Expansion,”  a.mar.illo depicts a world that has quickly formed. The illustration is extremely detailed and I love just how intense his world is. There are numerous skyscrapers and this tee shows just how intricate and busy the world is. a.mar.illo has selected a great combination by making this a black and white design because a world so complex needs some simplicity to balance it out. I absolutely wouldn’t mind getting my hands on this shirt either!

You can pick up “Get a Job” and “Expansion” for $12 (free shipping with code LovingThisTee) for the next 3 days. If you would like to see how Tilteed tees look and feel, check out my last post where I review Dale Edwin Murray’s “Bombs Away!
