With a generic site name like T-shirts.com, I figured that the shop would primarily house novelty tees. I was correct in that assumption. Because of this, I’d like to focus my review on the website more than the shirt that I received. It’s just not possible to generalize the shop by one shirt, since the shop offers many different designs printed on different blanks by different printers.

With that said, if you like novelty tees, then T-shirts.com is a great place to shop! They have everything from band shirts to movie shirts to sports shirts. They even carry a bunch of different animal shirts, some of which are even more ridiculous than the unforgettable “Three Wolf Moon” design.

And for those who aren’t big on novelty shirts like me, you’ll be happy to hear that there are some artsy designs to browse through in the “Artist Designed” category. These include pieces by artists like Walmazan, Tasha Chapman, and Terry Fan.

What I find to be unique (and much needed for this kind of site) is the “Softness Gauge” located on each product page. It’s good to get a general idea of how your new t-shirts are going to feel before ordering. I don’t know what the standard t-shirt for comparison is, but Junk Food brand shirts are close to a rating of 5, which looks about right.

I guess now’s the time for me to talk about the shirt that I received. First off, the bag it came in didn’t say T-shirts.com so I was very confused when I saw the package. I just found out that this is their sister company, so now it makes sense! Aside from that, the contents were neatly packaged in a clear, sealed plastic bag.

The shirt I received is the Muse Exogenesis T-shirt and on it is the album cover for The Resistance. If you still don’t know who Muse are after the London Olympics, then you absolutely must look them up and listen to their music. Right now. I mean it.

The print itself doesn’t look that great up close, but the colors are nice and vivid from a distance. T-shirt.com’s product pictures are spot-on, though, so that wasn’t a surprise. You can feel the ink when you run your hands over the design, but it’s flexible and smooth. It’s not bad for a band shirt, but I’ve definitely been spoiled by soft ringspun American Apparel shirts and the like. The softness gauge on T-shirts.com said that it was almost a 4, but I’d peg it more as a 3 (it’s printed on Alstyle).

Overall, I like T-shirts.com for the sheer volume of novelty designs it offers. I haven’t actually shopped online for novelty tees though, so I’m not sure how it would compare to other sites. What I do know is that the shipping was very quick, and the representative whom I was in touch with is a total sweetheart (shout out to Ashly!).

My favorite product from this new release has got to be Unlucky Rabbit. The caption on the product page says it all – “Blind luck doesn’t exist. Just ask the ‘Unlucky Rabbit.’ Work hard. Make your own luck.” I’m a firm believer that you’re the only person who can make things happen for yourself, so this t-shirt design definitely speaks to me.

M.A.C. is back, and happier than ever. Why? Because it’s his day off! I wonder what he’s going to do. Probably just your everyday robot things: hanging out with his robot friends, eating good robot food, and drinking delicious robot beers.

You can pick up “Happy M.A.C.” for $25 at Doctor Hazmat. These shirts are available in both men‘s and women‘s sizes.

The title fits perfectly, no? I thought so, too. I really love this design, and it is one of the more “serious” pieces on the site. I’m not quite sure what the art direction of the brand is, as all of the designs are quite different from one another and there’s no one thing that ties them all together besides being labeled with “Perception.” Nonetheless, this is one sweet shirt and I am a fan of most of the other designs as well.

“Mind Over Matter” is printed on American Apparel, and it looks amazing in person. The shirt itself is oddly longer than my other black AA tees (by a couple of inches), but I figure it’s just this specific copy that I received. Other than that, a thing to note is that while in the main image found on the product page does not have any branding on it, the actual shirt itself (and the real product shot) has “Perception Apparel” at the bottom. I would have preferred it without the branding, but since it’s there, I’m glad that it’s a small addition to the design.

The print feels and looks great. You may have gotten tired of me saying that, but it’s true. I always end up surprised by the quality of shirts that I receive. Kudos, brands!

The t-shirt also came with a rubber bracelet that says “Perception Apparel” on one side and “Dare to stand out” on the other. I think it would have been cool without the brand name, but it’s still a neat addition to the tee.

What’s not to love about robots? You’ve got famous robots ranging from R2-D2 and C-3PO from Star Wars to Bender from Futurama. Robots are everywhere! This design is great because while there’s the main robot in the middle, there are lots of other fun characters and loads of details.

The shirt is much thinner than the normal short sleeve tees from AA, so this white shirt is kind of sheer.  Definitely a great shirt for those warmer days. The print is super soft, just like the shirt.

The shirt features a screen printed tag with the Yema logo. Love it!

There aren’t very many of these tees left (only sizes XS and XL) are available, but that shouldn’t stop you from checking out the other shirts in the shop. “We are Robots” is available in the Yema shop for $15.

The shirt that I received is called “Mega Mistake,” and it is one of their older designs. I think it has gotten several reprints since it was first made available on the site. I was never good at playing Mega Man X on my Super Nintendo, but that didn’t stop me from loving the game so much.

Here’s a look at the full tee. The print is rather small in comparison to what I’m used to wearing, but it’s still quite nice. The print feels good and the colors look great against the royal blue Alstyle shirt.

While the shirt is 100% cotton, it is not ringspun cotton. The SplitReason site says that it doesn’t feel like cardboard, and I agree that it doesn’t, but it’s still a bit scratchy. I guess I’ve just been spoiled by brands that print on ringspun cotton. These shirts are also kind of boxy, as they aren’t fashion fit tees. Some people prefer that, while others don’t. I’ll include myself in that “other” category, but only because small slim fit tees (from brands like American Apparel) fit well, while these boxier shirts do not.

Looks like Mega Man got a little too frustrated playing his game. Whoops! I completely understand, though. If I were him, I would end up blasting through my TV after struggling with the game too.

While I am not the biggest fan of the blanks SplitReason print on, I still love this “Mega Mistake” design. As a fan of Mega Man, this t-shirt is a perfect addition to my growing collection. The shirts I received include “I’m Ridin’ Solo,” “OMG TEXT,” “Little Monster,” and a shirt against animal testing that I can’t currently find on their website. While the animal shirts and the monster shirt have similarly sized prints, the “OMG TEXT” tee is completely covered on the front (nothing on the back).

So since all of the shirts are quite similar in how they feel, I’m going to review one in depth. Let’s pick the “Little Monster” one because I recently went to see Lady Gaga in concert and all of her fans are her little monsters.

Here’s a look at the full shirt. It’s a women’s XL, in case you’re wondering. The print is a great size. I wouldn’t have liked to see it any larger or any smaller. The shirt, like the other three that I received, are quite sheer. This is quite typical of brands that target juniors. I do remember liking sheer fabrics when I was in high school.

While the print on the shirt isn’t that thick/heavy, it is quite rough. Definitely not a good shirt to snuggle in. But if you’re just going to wear this shirt out and about, then that’s okay. Just make sure these cute Loyal Army designs don’t fool your friends into wanting to snuggle up against them. It’s kind of like how I thought it would be a good idea to rub a peach against my face when I was younger because I thought it would be super soft. It wasn’t.

The good news is that the prints feel nicer on the lighter colored shirts, so you should be fine snuggling with those on! The colors came out nicely on all the shirts, and the prints all look like they’re durable and will last a long time. Here’s a closer look at the “Little Monster” design:

Two of the shirts, the animal testing one and the “OMG TEXT” shirt have screen printed tags while the other two shirts have actual tags. I like the screen printed ones much more, as the physical tags can easily flip up and stick out because the fabric’s so thin and flexible. I hate it when that happens. The tag sure is cute though!

Jon Knox is an amazing artist based out of Portland, OR, who is most widely known for his handmade resin toys. But that’s not all that he does, though. Along with being an amazing toy sculptor and painter, he’s also a fantastic illustrator. His unique characters are like a species of their own, so distinct and full of personality. These characters exist in both cartoonish realms and realistic ones, with his portraits looking incredibly lifelike.

I remember my first encounter with Jon Knox’s artwork. It was a Threadless Select (the old Select line) tee called “Brat Party” that introduced me to Jon’s playful style. I’m going to go ahead and say that it’s my favorite Threadless tee of all time. It’s a shame that I no longer fit into the copy that I own without feeling self-conscious. Should have gone for a Guys Small and not the XS… Bah!

But you’re not here to read my t-shirt woes, are you? I didn’t think so. Let’s take a look at a much newer tee from Jon Knox’s shop. I picked up a shirt called “The Magician” from Jon’s shop when it was up for pre-order. I am kind of obsessed with heather grey tees at the moment, so I picked the grey shirt (there’s also a white option, as well as tank versions).

Since I got it while it was on pre-order, I also received a free mini giclee print. But that’s not all. Jon included stickers and a postcard as well! (You can purchase these items separately in Jon Knox’s shop.)

Jon’s illustration came out perfectly on the shirt. I was a little worried about how the design would translate onto a t-shirt when all there was to look at was a mock-up, but my worries were put to rest when I saw the shirt for the first time. I’m extremely happy with how everything looks, and I personally love the texture that the heather grey gives it.

Here’s an even closer look at the design. The details are superb on this shirt! The design is printed with water-based inks on an American Apparel shirt, so it’s super soft. Kudos to Jon Knox and to the garment printer!

And as an added touch, the tee has a screen printed care tag.

So if you’re looking for a shirt with brilliant artwork that you don’t see every day, I highly recommend that you pick up a Jon Knox creation from his online shop. “The Magician” retails for $24, and like I mentioned earlier, it also comes in white and tank top variations. And while you’re at it, you should also give one (or a bunch) of his prints or resin toys a home!

The shirt came nicely folded in a sealed orange plastic bag, which I thought was cool. I’m not a fan of clear or translucent mailers, though. Something about the way that you can see what kind of shirt lies inside the packaging makes me nervous about the parcel’s journey through shipment facilities. Nonetheless, this LabCandy tee obviously made it to me just fine! The shirt came packaged with some extra goodies: a sealed tube of blue powder candy and LabCandy pin.

Here’s a look at the full design. Greg Abbott sure is a pro at designing lovable monsters! This poor guy had so much fun enjoying his treats that he didn’t notice the lollipops and bubblegum sticking to him until it was too late. I just hope that he doesn’t stick that gum back into his mouth once he frees himself. That would be kind of gross…

Let’s move on to the print job. The shirt looks great, and although it has a big print, the shirt doesn’t feel heavy at all. Here’s a more detailed shot of the design:

Another thing to note is that the shirt has a custom screen printed neck tag, stating the brand, size, shirt name, and washing instructions. I love how this label looks.
